Sick on Thanksgiving and Going on Tour
Yep, you read that right. I was sick on Thanksgiving.
It all started Wednesday night. My brother grilled up some steaks, and while he’s usually a pro, this one was a little too rare for my liking. I went to bed feeling fine, but by 5 a.m., it hit me like a ton of bricks. I barely made it to the bathroom in time. Thanksgiving was officially canceled at our house, and the family moved the whole feast to someone else’s place.
As for me? My Thanksgiving meal was half a saltine cracker and a couple of sips of chicken noodle soup. I was just happy it stayed down. By the next day, I felt totally fine again. Then, surprise! My mom tells me a stomach virus was going around her work. So, turns out it wasn’t the steak, just bad timing. Instead of feeling stuffed on turkey and pie, I ended up five pounds lighter. Not exactly how I planned to spend the holiday.
But hey, the weekend isn’t shaping up to be all bad. The ONU Holiday Spectacular is heading out on its annual “tour” to the Lima Civic Center this upcoming weekend, and I couldn’t be more excited. There’s something about packing onto a bus with the cast and crew and heading to a bigger venue that makes it feel like we’re living the dream. It’s like getting a little sneak peek into the life of an actor on tour.
The Civic Center stage is much bigger compared to what we’re used to, so it’ll be exciting to see how the show transforms in a larger space. Performing for a new audience always brings a different kind of energy, and I can already tell the weekend is going to be full of that backstage buzz we all love. Also the bus rides are half the fun. It’s a chance to bond, share snacks, and maybe even squeeze in a nap before showtime.
I’m looking forward to taking in the whole experience and bringing some extra holiday magic to a new crowd. Stay tuned for how it all goes!
Being on tour was such a cool experience for us as a cast! It was so different than we're used to, so exciting! What an amazing cast member you are!

ReplyDeleteAw Man!!! Sick on thanksgiving, that’s the worst… the one time of year you get to feast on all the food that you only get on that day (or so it seems)! So sad i couldn’t tour this year, i sure do miss it! Sounds like it was a blast though! Good luck on finals!
