Of Course There Are Auditions This Week, Why Not?

It’s that time of year again—finals, last-minute assignments, and the dreaded spring show auditions all collide to create the ultimate challenge. It all being in the same few weeks is no easy task.

Let’s talk about auditions. Preparing for a spring show is no easy task. Auditioning is its own kind of pressure—trying to make a strong impression in just a few minutes is tough. Add the fact that everyone else is giving it their all, and it’s hard not to feel overwhelmed. And then, just when we think it’s over, callbacks show up and add another layer to the mix.

And finals? They’re still hanging over everything. Exams and papers don’t care that we've been pouring our energy into preparing for auditions. We are all still expected to pull late nights and deliver your best work. It’s a constant juggling act—switching between writing essays and rehearsing for auditions. It’s exhausting, and honestly, something is bound to slip through the cracks.

Then there are the last-minute assignments. Every class seems to have that one big project due right before break, and they always take more time than you think. I always rush to finish these while also trying to memorize callback material and finish my acting class homework in one night. It’s chaos, plain and simple.

But in the middle of all this madness, there’s something kind of comforting about not being alone. Everyone else is in the same boat—tired, stressed, and surviving on too much of whatever energy drink they choose. We share study tips, chat over how much there is to do, and find small moments to laugh with each other. It’s tough, but it’s also a reminder that we're not going through it alone.

By the time the holidays roll around, it’s all behind us. We've made it through auditions, tackled finals, and checked off every assignment. Sure, I'm completely drained, but there’s nothing like the relief of knowing it’s done. So here’s to making it through another whirlwind semester.
