Surviving Tech Week: I Need a Nap and a Miracle
This week has been completely insane. I’m not even joking when I say I’d give anything for 30 minutes to just sit and breathe. But nope, that’s not happening until I crash into bed at night. Tech week for the ONU Holiday Spectacular has been a wild ride—exhausting, exciting, and just a little overwhelming. Don’t get me wrong, I’m thrilled to be part of such an amazing show. But that doesn’t mean it’s all smooth sailing.
Every evening, I’m at the Freed Center by 5:30 or 6 p.m., and I don’t leave until close to 11 p.m. It’s nonstop rehearsals, blocking, and tweaking every little detail to get the show just right. Then, after all that, I still have regular life stuff to handle—laundry, recovery stretches to keep my muscles from hating me, and remembering to eat and drink something other than celsius. Let’s just say my physical health is not happy with me right now.
And the weather? Between freezing cold, constant rain, and random bursts of snow, my sinuses are waving the white flag. Running back and forth in this mess has me stocked up on tissues and hot drinks like I’m preparing for the apocalypse. I feel like I can’t catch a break, and my body is definitely letting me know.
Still, there’s something about this whole chaotic process that makes it worth it. Being part of a show like this reminds me why I love performing. It’s about the energy of the cast, the excitement of creating something special, and the payoff when everything finally comes together to make magic happen.
That doesn’t mean it’s easy, though. I’m tired. My feet hurt. My to-do list is endless. And honestly, I’m counting down the days until Thanksgiving break whenI can collapse on the couch and not move for an entire week. But I also know that when the curtain goes up, it’ll all feel worth it.
For now, I’m just taking it one step at a time (and one cup of tea at a time). Tech week is no joke, but I’ll get through it. Here’s hoping for a little extra energy—and maybe, just maybe, those 30 minutes of rest I’ve been dreaming about.

You've been killing it during rehearsals! And same I am living off of Red Bulls right now because this process has been so exhausting. I cannot wait for Thanksgiving break so I can go home and relax, I think we all need it! My sinuses are also going crazy due to the change in weather, but we are so close and it is already opening night. Just a couple more days! You've got this!
ReplyDeleteI totally feel this. I am also surviving off of tea and tears. My feet also hurt really bad and I cant wait for break so I can be barefoot for a whole week straight. You have been doing so great though! Your hard work doesnt go unnoticed and you carry this show like a pro. I cant wait for Lima tech with you next week! I hope you got some rest this break. Love You!
