"Yes, and?" with Vivian Lakin and Matthew Cook (Featuring guest Katja Roberts)

Working on this podcast has been a very informative and interesting experience. Vivian and I both had a few people we thought about interviewing but landed on Katja Roberts, senior BFA Musical Theatre major and Social Media minor, as well as the head of Ohio Northern University Theatre Arts Instagram. When thinking about what questions to ask Katja, I mainly wanted to see how she views social media in the context of theatre and how it has changed marketing in the arts. She was very informative while also being super candid about her experiences and her beliefs.

Honestly, one of my favorite parts of the project was the editing portion. I enjoyed getting to listen to the footage we had and editing parts out that weren’t necessarily needed, and I really enjoyed getting to listen to the bloopers or mess-ups we had! It was cool to figure out how I wanted to format the episode. To be honest, we had several questions that we didn’t ask and I even had to cut out ones we did ask or else the episode would’ve run around 20 minutes long, which I think all of the things we talked about were important and interesting; we were just held back by the time constraint. I am still very interested in having my own podcast, definitely a more casual one though. Our podcast title, “Trash Talk,” would translate more into a more casual style podcast. Time allowing, I would love to continue producing a more in-depth podcast series!

  1. I had so much fun doing this project with you! Katja was really great, and I think our podcast turned out awesome. Your title made me crack up because I also noticed that Kat kept saying "Yes, and?" and I love that the things our friends say catch on. I agree that "Trash Talk" is definitely better for a casual gossip podcast, and I think we should totally keep it going. Let's get some mics and hit the treadmill! Love you, Matty.
