ONU Year 2: The Remix

Walking back onto campus, I felt like I had never left. As the last few weeks of summer disappeared, I felt more anxious about returning than anything else. I thought about my life at home and my close friends, leaving them was almost worse the second time around. However, once I got back I remembered all of the things I loved and missed about ONU.
Now that I am back, I can go and dance in any studio I would like. I am also getting to dive back into work in classes that push me further towards pursuing a career as a performer. Being in classes like Acting 2 and Jazz 3 are bringing me a level of enjoyment and challenge I had forgotten about. I didn't get to be as involved in the arts this summer as I would've liked, so these first few days have been a welcome adjustment for me. I am looking forward to pushing myself in new ways and seeing what may come of it, whether that be new mental approaches to a scene in a play or a new way to physically approach dance technique.
As well as being involved in performance based classes this semester for my major, I also have a few classes that aid my minor in Arts Administration. I currently am enrolled in Arts Marketing/Audience Development and Principles of Social Media. I chose this course because I have always been interested in social media and how it interacts with our everyday lives from a personal to a corporate level. The blogging project is specifically interesting to me because in my personal life, blogs are not a form of social media communication that I typically use. I wonder if this project could change the way I view other forms of social media such as blogging that may not be used as often for Gen Z communication.
Another part of this class that I am looking forward to is the podcasting project. I love to listen to podcasts such as Brittany Broski's "The Broski Report". It is a pipe dream of mine to have a little podcast where me and my friends can just talk about whatever is on our mind and have candid discussions. I look forward to diving deeper in this coursework along with many other classes this semester. Sophomore year has a lot in store and I can just feel that it's gonna be a good one.
